Wisdom Wednesday #1: Book Of The Month - Every Day A Friday
Wisdom Wednesdays: Books?
This is our first issue of Wisdom Wednesdays: Books edition. Here is where we will share books we have either read or are currently reading. Specific quotes, thoughts and wonders will be shared within these issues or will include links to related posts of the book.
April's Current Book Of The Month
I'm currently reading a book I picked up at my local Barnes & Nobles:
Every Day A Friday by Joel Osteen
Happy Wednesday! I Mean Happy Friday!
This book caught my eye while rummaging through the bargain aisle under self-help:- The mere title had me thinking about the days of the week. Wouldn't it be nice to make every day a Friday. We associate weekend fun, relaxation and good moods with Fridays.
- There's a workbook, meaning some hands-on self reflections and exercises. Woo-hoo!
- Skimming through the book, I noticed references to the Bible If you're not so religious, it may not appear inspirational. Or it may. I just felt it gave a nice touch to integrate it into feeling good. Religion tends to get the bad rep. I think the term God can be interchanged with Universe if it takes away from the meaning for you.
- The book focuses on emotions and feelings, which is part of the law of attraction.
It's really nice to see a book like this. Refreshing. Something about making yourself happy. Aside from the law of attracting and manifesting, changing perspective is very important. If you cannot change perspectives, how will you notice things when they happen? We tend to get stuck in our habits. That blinds you from opportunities.
I'm naturally a happy person. I've been doing everything that makes me happy and attempting to maintain that feeling as much as possible. I know it's challenging to keep the happy momentum when outside events will occur that may not always be in your favor. I think it's actually a good thing that we are at a constant ebb and flow of feelings. It reminds ourselves of our human nature and that the only thing we have control over is our feelings. With the feelings we control, life unfolds in mirror of those feelings. I choose to be happy. Again, I'm not always happy 24/7. I will reach moments of upset yet I have to talk myself out of that mood. It's not easy, but I line up ways to conquer that through different exercises which I share on this blog.
I'm going to share this book in more depth on a separate post. Although, I'm thinking of breaking this book down into several posts as I go through it on a daily basis.
Suggestions
Has anybody finished or is currently reading this book? Or suggests a similar book that relate to the happiness factor? Pl ease post your thoughts on the book or about what you do to maintain your happiness level.
